Richard obtained his PhD from the University of Toronto and was a post-doctoral fellow at both the University of California at San Diego and the University of Texas at Austin. At the Impact Centre, he helps evaluate technologies from industry and academic groups identifying potential partnerships to start new entrepreneurial ventures. He also helps those company partners access government funding opportunities to finance and grow their new ventures.
When he’s not at the Impact Centre, Richard manages Professor Cynthia Goh’s laboratory overseeing the day-to-day operations, helping with longer-term project planning, and assisting with faculty and industry collaborations.
Richard’s science training is in organic chemistry, biological chemistry, protein chemistry and synthetic biology. He has helped co-found three companies from Professor Goh’s group gaining further expertise in biosensor technologies (Axela), surface coatings (Dalenyi) and nanoparticles (Vive).
