Alon Eisenstein

Educator, Experiential Learning

Alon joined the Impact Centre in the summer of 2014, and has since continuously developed the Impact Centre’s experiential learning programs, in particular the internship-based course Exploring New Ventures. Alon has successfully launched several projects that build and expand on his experience in Entrepreneurial Work Integrated Learning (EWIL) including establishing a partnership with the University of Oslo’s School for Entrepreneurship.

Dedicated to sound pedagogy, Alon is researching the role and importance of critical thinking and entrepreneurial attitude in students participating in the Impact Centre’s courses. This includes an R&D project to develop assessment tools for EWIL in collaboration with other universities across Ontario.

Alon obtained his BSc and MSc in Chemistry, both with honours, at the Ben Gurion University in Israel. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto, specializing in Physical Chemistry, studying and characterizing the properties of nano-scale materials. He is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development at OISE.

Passionate about teaching, Alon is the Educational Programs Coordinator for Pueblo Science, a non-profit working to advance science education in under-resourced communities in Canada and in the developing world. As part of his role, he has initiated and directed the organization’s week-long science camp, as well as other large public events which aim to engage the general public with science education.
