Techno2018 Info Session
April 18, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
We’re looking for students and postdocs who want to apply their expertise in science and engineering to build a company that can solve a problem in the world. We can supplement your graduate school training with a week of business and entrepreneurship training this summer.
Techno2018 will run June 4 to 8 on the St. George Campus. For the first time, we’ll award a grand prize of $5,000 to one team at the end of the training.
At Techno you will get hands-on business training by building a startup in real-time, with support from our staff and external experts. Many of our students decide to continue on developing their company. If they do, they will receive access to our mentorship as well as lab and office space.
Over the past 9 years of Techno training, we’ve had people join us to commercialize something from their thesis and lab group, while others developed things unrelated to their research. The results are 70+ active startups producing 80+ products and services on the market.
We don’t charge tuition, so acceptance is competitive. Teams and individuals can apply at https://www.impactcentre.ca/techno. Applications are due May 8 but we have a rolling acceptance, so we encourage you to apply early.
We’re holding an info session and a talk on scientific entrepreneurship on Wednesday, April 18 at 5 pm in Lash Miller room 123 (80 St. George Street). No registration required for this event.
Join Techno to learn about entrepreneurship in a non-intimidating environment, build skills for your CV, and use your graduate training to bring benefits to society!
Feel free to email Leo Mui at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any further questions.
