ClustersBUILDING STRONG AND SOLID RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR
Business and industry clusters are geographic concentrations of interconnected companies and institutions in a particular field. They include up- and downstream members of a value chain, from suppliers, to channel members, and associated institutions, such as government agencies or universities. Clusters connect based on skills, technology and common input. Output desires may vary for every member of the focused network, but will always be based on the creation of win-win situations.
We picked the concept of clusters up, and started creating industry clusters focused around our core areas of expertise.
The cluster plays a coordinating role and collaborates with public and private sector organizations to accelerate the deployment of products and services rooted in core technology areas. We bring together industry partners, researchers, government agencies and end-users through collaborative projects, knowledge sharing and networking events.
Our objective is to connect academics conducting cutting-edge science with industry innovators to understand the issues and needs faced in the marketplace, and how to address them using the resources found at U of T and other participating institutions.
