On March 1, University of Toronto Entrepreneurship hosted the second Startup Showcase as part of Entrepreneurship@UofT Week. The day-long event brought together the university’s entrepreneurship community to highlight the success of student startups, incubators, corporate partners and government programs.

CBC Dragon and entrepreneur Arlene Dickinson gave the afternoon keynote as part of the RBC Innovation & Entrepreneurship Series. Her message provided an equal measure of inspiration and practical advice. “Acknowledge that you don’t know everything, but that you’re willing to learn. You have to know people and understand markets.”

Along with a day-long and bustling showcase of student startups, the day concluded with a pitch competition for the second RBC Prize for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Five early stage startups and five later stage startups pitched to a panel of investors for $50,000 in prizes as well as a $1,000 People’s Choice Award.

Braze Mobility and Sojourn Labs both presented as part of the competition, with Braze Mobility taking home second place in the later stage catagory as well as the People’s Choice Award!

Congratulations to all of the startups and to the U of T Entrepreneurship team for hosting a wonderful event!
